Within the pilot research we tried to get in contact with migrants through national (and internationally standardized) representative data collections, the Labour Force Survey (LFS). Getting contact details of migrants from their acquaintances (household members of the LFS) raised some serious data protection issues. Therefore, a data protection protocol was developed with the following elements:
